"I loved every single activity and all of the service we gave! Even when I was not particularly knowlegable in a certain area, it was great to learn more and help everyone else on their projects. I discovered talents and interests that I had no idea I had before. Every single moment was so great. I loved it!"
-Jessica Reeves, Uganda 2007 |
"No matter how much I taught or how much I served, I could never give more than I received. The Ugandan people have given me more than I can express. They are beautiful in every way. Their strength astounds me and their spirit inspires me. When I came they called me their hero, when I left they were mine."

| Program Cost |
|
We ask that participants fund their own experience by paying a program fee of $2,750 and the cost of airfare. Generous discounts are available and most volunteers choose to fundraise all or a portion of their cost. The program fee remains the same regardless of your length of stay in-country (6 weeks to 4 months). This cost will cover all your lodging, in-country project transportation, and food expenses. All personal expenses, including souvenirs, personal care items, and entertainment are to be paid for by participants.
Discounts Available $250 early application discount for volunteers who apply before January 1st (References do not have to be completed by Jan. 1 to qualify) OR $150 early application discount for volunteers who apply before February 1st
$100 for everyone (a friend or acquaintance) you bring into the program (discount will be applied after friend or acquaintance has paid in full) $800 discount for 1 sibling (other sibling must pay full cost) $200 discount for paying in full before February 15th $750 returning volunteer discount 50% discount off the program fee for a spouse (the other spouse must pay the full program fee of $2,750, couples pay a combined program fee of $4,125)
The program fee does not include airfare to your country which must be purchased separately. We prefer airfare to be purchased through HELP International, and we get discounted rates for participants. Please be aware that prices vary depending on dates, and departure and return locations. Our estimates are based on round-trip airfare from SLC.
Fundraising Options
Don't let fundraising scare you! We want to help and we have great experience in participant fundraising. We do everything possible to ensure that money is not a deterrent for service! When accepted, participants receive a fundraising packet and support from the HELP team. Most participants choose to fund-raise a portion or all of their program fee!
Below is some initial informational about HELP International fundraising:
Let’s get real: At first sight fundraising can be difficult and intimidating. What many people don’t think about is that fundraising can also be an enjoyable and satisfying experience.
Fundraising can be viewed in a positive light. It is part of any non-profit work and the initiative and marketing needed to be successful in your fundraising is a part of any job or schooling you will undertake. If you can get past the feeling that you are raising the funds for you, and instead consider that you are raising funds in order to provide much-needed help to others (while learning a lot yourself along the way), then you should feel proud – practically morally obligated! – to help people part with their money for a good cause. You can turn the activity of fundraising into an opportunity not only to energize others about your upcoming experience, but also to educate them about needs and issues in the developing world. At HELP International we make sure that our fundraising is mission-based. When people believe in what you are doing they will be quite enthusiastic to invest their efforts with yours. You will be amazed by how many interesting people you will meet who will support and applaud you, not only financially but also in spirit.
Fundraising takes a combination of creativity, planning, hard work, tenacity and a sense of humor. Keep in mind that a significant percentage of HELP International participants raise all or part of their program fee and the success stories are many, so you can do this! In fact participants often report that the work they put into fundraising before they left added value to their overall experience.
The more people you help to invest in your HELP International
